San Jose has been quietly charming Jacksonville for generations. From the historic entrance at El Ciento to the winding streets lined with live oaks, this neighborhood has a diverse and quirky personality all its own — a surprising blend of historic Spanish-style gate houses and mid-century gems. We’re not trying to be the next big thing — we’re focused on being the best version of ourselves.
San Jose Neighborhood Association, Inc., is a Florida Not for Profit Corporation established to serve, represent, preserve, and strengthen Jacksonville's Jewel Box Community. Membership is volunteer and open to all neighborhood residents within its borders. This volunteer-run organization seeks to promote quality of life, safety, improvements, social activities, and civic protections, raising the value and desirability of the neighborhood.
Elise Brosch has called Jacksonville home for 23 years, the last eight in San Jose. She has three active and vibrant children who keep her full of life and on her toes.
She works in the legal field (not an attorney, but played one on TV once) and although she loves what she does, is counting down the thousands of days to retirement (hello, mid life).
Elise became engaged with the San Jose community when the YMCA applied for rezoning in 2024. Through the process, she met a lot of her neighbors and became better acquainted with many. This sparked a sincere desire to create a better sense of community within the neighborhood with the hopes of bringing people together for social events, to preserve the integrity of our neighborhood, and to create a safer and more beautiful place for our families to enjoy.

A Jacksonville native, Grady Pope has proudly called San Jose home for the past five years. He and his wife have one adult daughter and are blessed with one granddaughter.
Now retired after a long career as a Quality Assurance Director, Grady enjoys spending more time with family, gardening, fishing, photography, traveling, and bird watching- including documenting over 35 avian species from his backyard bird feeder!
As someone who has always been a “people person,” Grady believes strongly in community, friendship, and helping neighbors whenever needed. His love for San Jose, what we proudly call our “Jewel Box Community,” inspired him to volunteer – looking forward to help preserve the beauty, character, and neighborly spirit of San Jose for many years to come.

Jacquelene "Jacquie" Buckley has lived in Jacksonville for the past 12 years and in this time has developed a deep appreciation for the character and sense of community within the neighborhood. Through spending time jogging and bicycling throughout the area, she has especially enjoyed getting to know fellow residents and admiring the neighborhood’s distinctive historic homes and architecture.
These experiences have fostered a strong sense of pride in the community and a commitment to helping preserve what makes it so special.
Originally having worked as a coastal biologist before transitioning into nursing, Jacquie values collaboration, service, and community involvement. She volunteered to serve as Treasurer of the San Jose Neighborhood Association out of a genuine appreciation for the neighborhood and a desire to contribute in a meaningful and practical way.

Chrissy Kinne is the founder of the San Jose Neighborhood Association and a longtime Duval County resident who has spent years working to preserve the character and community spirit of the San Jose area.
As Government Relations Officer, Chrissy connects our neighborhood with local government. She's championed smart growth, thoughtful development, and transparent governance — including a successful zoning change for the YMCA property on Old Kings Rd. S. and ongoing advocacy for responsible redevelopment of the former Kings Trail Elementary School site. Before Jacksonville, Chrissy competed and taught dance as an Arthur Murray Entrepreneur, where she developed a love for education that later led her to manage a multi-generational, home-based education program.
Away from community work, you might find her playing pickle ball, kayaking, or crafting the perfect French pastry (a neighborhood favorite). But her real first priority is her 12-year-old grandson — whether they're sharing a book, playing piano, or grabbing tacos at Pepe's.

Amy Calfee became involved in the community in 2024, motivated by plans for high-density rezoning of the nearby YMCA property. A San Jose resident since 1993, she's the one who dubbed our neighborhood "Jacksonville's Jewel Box Community" — a phrase that is helping to shape the neighborhoods identity.
As Communications Officer, Amy brings decades of storytelling and event production to SJNA. She runs her own brand and marketing consultancy and has spent years behind the lens covering presidential campaigns, professional sports, and corporate events while helping hundreds of small business owners find their voice and grow. A former corporate marketing director and entrepreneurial educator, she was recognized as the SBA's first Home-based Business Advocate in this region.
In her spare time, you might find her working on a remodeling project, honing her "short game," or cheering on college athletics. She's mom to adult children and Mimi to three grands.
